30 Apr 2016 — Martin Vindis led every lap from first-place start to first-place finish in the Spa Francorchamps GT3 in Round 2 of the FIA GT3 Challenge [East] series.
Vindis drove all of 14 laps total leading Felipe Portela after being engaged by him on the first lap. Vindis controlled the race lead every lap from green flag to victory.
Vindis is fourth in the standings for the series. He has one start and led 17 of his 17 laps raced while taking the victory once.
Felipe Portela took second place.
FIA GT3 Challenge [East] series moves on to Round 3 in a week at a circuit to be named. The series has 15 drivers competing for points in the championship.
Portela drove nearly equal parts of seven laps total leading Pedro Moura after engaging and passing him on the fifth lap. Portela passed Moura and into second place on lap 5, and controlled it the remaining dozen laps to the finish.
Portela is fifth in the standings for the series. He has one start and finished as high as second.
Diego Said took third place.
Driving the Mercedes SLS ADAC, Said traded positions with Jorge Lopez in a close fight for fourth starting midway through, running within a scrape of each other over a stretch of nine laps. Said spent nearly equal parts leading Lopez after being caught by him on the first lap. After losing the spot on lap 5, Said passed Lopez and into third place on lap 9, and kept it the remaining eight laps to the conclusion.
Said is sixth in the standings for the series. He has one start and finished as high as third.
Jorge Lopez took fifth place.
Driving the Mercedes SLS Blancpain, Lopez drove the majority of four laps total leading Nathan Marchon after being caught by him on the first lap. Lopez passed Marchon and into fifth place on lap 1, and controlled it the remaining 16 laps to the checkered flag.
Lopez is eighth in the standings for the series. He has one start and finished as high as fifth.
