13 Jun 2016 — Silvino Rodrigues raced at the front of the field most of all drivers, leading 13 of 15 laps on a run to first place in the Mid Ohio Marcas in Round 6 of the ERA Global Touring Car Championship series.
Rodrigues swapped leads with Alessio Lucchesi in a fervent fight for the race lead from the middle stages, running within a scrape of each other over a range of nine laps. Driving the Mitsubishi Lancer, Rodrigues ran the majority leading Lucchesi after being engaged by him on the first lap. Rodrigues fended off an extended attack by Lucchesi in the beginning, staying just a scrape ahead of him over a continuous run of six laps. After losing the spot on lap 7, Rodrigues cleared Lucchesi and into first place on lap 9, and kept it the remaining half-dozen laps to the conclusion.
Rodrigues is ninth in the standings for the series. He has one start and led 13 of his 15 laps raced while taking the win once.
ERA Global Touring Car Championship series moves on to Round 7 in two weeks at Symmons Plains. The series has 15 drivers competing for points in the championship.
Alessio Lucchesi leads the championship. The title continues to be challenged by Colin Barker and Simon Swarbrick. The Top 5 places are an open field for 15 drivers in the running with two races remaining.
