25 Oct 2016 — One last pass on the final lap put Jose Casanovas in 10th place at the finish line in the Brianza ’66 Spark F3 in Round 5 of the Formula 3 1968 series.

Casanovas traded positions with Colin Barker in a persistent battle for eighth starting midway through, passing each other twice over a range of eight laps. Casanovas spent nearly equal parts leading Barker after being engaged by him on the fourth lap. After losing the spot on lap 8, Casanovas got around Barker and into 10th place when Barker retired on the final lap.

Casanovas is 19th in the standings for the series. He has one start and finished as high as 10th.

Formula 3 1968 series moves on to Round 6 in a week at Hidden Valley Raceway. The series has 23 drivers competing for points in the championship.

Rob Milliken leads the championship in a tight campaign over Jari Bruppacher, separated by just a handful of finishing positions. The title continues to be challenged by Nick Phillips, Colin Barker, Carles Alcario, Paul Anstey, Klaus Germanus, Michele Boffelli, Andy Bruno, Matt Geddes, Porfirio Dias Santos, David Russo, Gerhard Hofmann, Norman Bruce, Ed Jones, Stefan Schneider, Brent Mills, Aaron Jackson, Jose Casanovas, Alan Rasman, William Lee Albarral, André Prates, and Phil Brown as well. The Top 5 places are an open field for 23 drivers in the running with four races remaining.
