13 May 2016 — Fernando Silva raced past the checkered flag a hairline 0.086 seconds ahead of Rasa Djordjevic to take fourth place in the Autodrom Most – GP Abarth500 in Round 3 of the Trofeo Abarth Europe Season 2 series.

Silva traded positions with Rasa Djordjevic in a long and tense battle for sixth starting early on, running within a car length of each other over a range of 12 laps. Silva ran nearly equal parts leading Djordjevic after being caught by him on the first lap. After losing the spot on lap 2, Silva got around Djordjevic and into fourth place on lap 9, and defended it against pressure by Djordjevic the remaining four laps to the thrilling finish.

Silva moves up to fifth in the standings, 14 points behind Diogo Velosa. Silva has two starts and finished as high as fourth.

Diogo Velosa led every lap from first-place start to first-place finish.

Velosa ran all of 12 laps total leading Alaoui Nassim after being caught by him on the first lap. Velosa controlled the race lead every lap from green flag to win.

Velosa moves up to fourth in the standings, eight points behind Hugo Ramos. Velosa has two starts and led 28 of his 28 laps while taking the win twice.

Trofeo Abarth Europe Season 2 series moves on to Round 4 in a week at Brands Hatch – Indy. The series has 17 drivers competing for points in the championship.

Jose Branco leads the championship in a tight campaign over Porfirio Dias Santos, separated by just a single grid spot. The title continues to be challenged by Hugo Ramos, Diogo Velosa, Fernando Silva, Jack Hunt, Mark Carty, Joao Botelho De Sousa, Alaoui Nassim, Antonio Tavares, Carlos Reina, Rasa Djordjevic, Yahya Zakari, Luís Almeida, Gino Bardelli, Nuno Gaiteira, and RAMY SBAY as well. The Top 5 places are an open ring for 17 drivers in the running with three races remaining.

Rasa Djordjevic took fifth place.

Djordjevic traded positions with Fernando Silva in a lengthy and unrelenting fight for fourth starting early on, running within a car length of each other over a span of 12 laps. Djordjevic spent nearly equal parts leading Silva after catching and passing him on the second lap. In the end Djordjevic lost the spot on lap 9 and settled into fifth the few laps running to the finish, missing Silva ahead by just 0.086 seconds at the line.

Djordjevic is 12th in the standings for the series. He has one start and finished as high as fifth.

Alaoui Nassim won second place.

Nassim drove all of 12 laps total leading Carlos Reina after being caught by him on the first lap. After starting third, Nassim took second position on the first lap and held it every lap to the checkered flag.

Nassim is ninth in the standings for the series. He has one start and finished as high as second.

Carlos Reina captured third place.
