21 Jun 2016 — Nuno Gaiteira captured seventh place in the Hidden Valley Polo92 in Round 6 of the VW Polo Trophy Season 3 series.

Gaiteira wrestled the advantage back and forth with Joca Marmota in a lengthy and unrelenting fight for sixth starting midway through, running within a scuff of each other over a range of 17 laps. Gaiteira spent nearly equal parts leading Marmota after being caught by him on the first lap. Ultimately Gaiteira lost the spot on lap 16 and settled into seventh the few laps running to the finish.

Gaiteira remains in fourth in the standings, increasing the lead over rival Yahya Zakari to 32 points. Gaiteira has six starts and finished as high as fifth.

VW Polo Trophy Season 3 series moves on to its seventh and final round in a week at Bathurst – Mt Panorama. The series has 30 drivers competing for points in the championship.

Ricardo Gomes leads the championship. The title continues to be challenged by Fernando Silva, Manuel Alves, and Nuno Gaiteira. The Top 5 places are an open battleground for seven drivers in the running with one race remaining.
