01 Sep 2016 — Nuno Gaiteira captured ninth place in the Nuerburg GTP-C in Round 3 of the 1983 World Endurance Championship series.

Gaiteira started the race in the seventh place and was caught by Bruno Chacon for eighth on the first lap. In the end Gaiteira settled into ninth the lap before retiring early due to dnf trouble.

Gaiteira drops to 10th in the standings, now tied in points with ninth’s Mark Craggs following Craggs’s eighth-place finish. Gaiteira has two starts and finished as high as seventh.

1983 World Endurance Championship series moves on to Round 4 in a week at Le Mans ’79. The series has 11 drivers competing for points in the championship.

Matt Geddes leads the championship in a tight campaign over Phil Brown, separated by just a handful of finishing positions. The title continues to be challenged by Luís Almeida, Porfirio Dias Santos, Bruno Chacon, Ricardo Gomes, Rafael Iwata, Harry-Lee Wills, Mark Craggs, Nuno Gaiteira, and Jorge Herrera as well. The Top 5 places are an open ring for 11 drivers in the running with four races remaining.
