22 Nov 2016 — Nuno Gaiteira captured 13th place in the Osterreichring ’79 F1’71 in Round 8 of the 1971 Virtual Formula 1 Championship series.
Gaiteira spent nearly equal parts of five laps total leading Luís Almeida after being engaged by him on lap 9. Ultimately Gaiteira settled into 12th the couple laps before retiring early due to dnf trouble.
Gaiteira drops to eighth in the standings, four points behind Phil Brown. Gaiteira has eight starts and finished as high as fifth.
1971 Virtual Formula 1 Championship series moves on to Round 9 in a week at Monza ’70s. The series has 20 drivers competing for points in the championship.
The top spot in the series is owned by Matt Geddes, but the remaining places in the Top 5 are an open field for 20 drivers in the running. Francis Cabrera, Gerardo Doglioli, Carl Schulz, Bruno Chacon, Porfirio Dias Santos, Phil Brown, and Nuno Gaiteira are all within one race of the current podium.
