19 Jun 2016 — Mert Kayar logged 12 laps at the front in a second-place run in the Hidden Valley V8SC in Round 6 of the V8 Supercars series.

Driving the Ford, Kayar drove the majority of 29 laps total pursuing John Smith after being engaged and passed by him on lap 13. Ultimately Kayar settled into second the 13 laps running to the conclusion.

Kayar remains in the lead of the standings, increasing the lead over rival Gilles Lalonde to 136 points. Kayar has six starts and led 33 of his 207 laps while finishing as high as second.

V8 Supercars series moves on to Round 7 in three weeks at Townsville. The series has 45 drivers competing for points in the championship.

Mert Kayar leads the championship. The title continues to be challenged by Gilles Lalonde, Trevor Dixon, Gerardo Doglioli, and Alan Rasman. The Top 5 places are an open field for 12 drivers in the running with two races remaining.
