30 Jul 2016 — Martin Buchan took fifth place in the WEGTE class in the Hockenhiem GP Multiclass in the opening round of the OCEANIKA MOTORSPORT World Endurance Championship series.

Buchan traded positions multiple rounds with Jerry Chen in a drawn-out battle for third from the middle stages, sparring over a span of 28 laps. Buchan ran nearly all leading Chen after being engaged by him on lap 22. In the end Buchan lost the spot on lap 53 and settled into fifth the lap running to the conclusion.

Johnny Gutierrez leads the WEGTE class championship in a tight campaign over Carl Middleton, separated by just a couple finishing positions. The title continues to be challenged by Mark Carty, Jerry Chen, Martin Buchan, Brian Fairley, Barrett Erickson, Fahn Thomas, Gilles Lalonde, Bas Zwartenbol, and Ahmad Sayyidan as well. The Top 5 places are an open ring for 11 drivers in the running with seven races remaining.

John Van Der Geest leads the WEP1 class championship in a tight campaign over Ken Jagger, separated by just a couple grid spots. The title continues to be challenged by Gergely Kovács as well. The Top 5 places are an open field for three drivers in the running with seven races remaining.

Darien Bailey leads the WEP2 class championship in a tight campaign over Mike Erickson, separated by just a couple grid spots. The title continues to be challenged by Porfirio Dias Santos, Roger Hinds, and David Buitrago as well. The Top 5 places are an open field for five drivers in the running with seven races remaining.
