05 Jan 2010 — Mario Rocha won seventh place in the Gr5 class in the So76: Virginia in the opening round of the Tuesday Night Spirit of 76 series.

Rocha traded positions with Josh Troy in a long and persistent fight for sixth starting midway through, passing each other twice over a span of 10 laps. Driving the Fiat X1/9 Dallara, Rocha drove equal parts leading Troy after originally being engaged by him on the fourth lap. After losing the spot on lap 5, Rocha got around Troy and into seventh place on lap 12, and controlled it the remaining few laps to the checkered flag.

Tuesday Night Spirit of 76 series moves on to Round 2 in two weeks at Autodrom Most – Chicane. The series has 26 drivers competing for points in the multiclass championships.

Jeffrey Ruskus leads the Gr5 class championship in a tight campaign over Rogier De Klein, separated by just a few grid positions. The title continues to be challenged by Caner Basol, Ivica Bistrovic, Nick Phillips, Toni Talvitie, Mario Rocha, Josh Troy, Michi Schmid, Luis Lynce, Jim Eagan, Ernie Douglas, Bas Zwartenbol, and Evan F. Madore as well. The Top 5 places are an open battleground for 14 drivers in the running with six races remaining.

Zak Ollerenshaw leads the Gr4 class championship in a tight campaign over Robert Northway, separated by just a few finishing positions. The title continues to be challenged by Shivanand R-Singh, Abat Hernaez, Rob Milliken, Nuno Areias, Glenn Waldow, Stavros Carayannis, Joao Petry, Billy Kindell, Lokman Ho, and Ricardo Novo as well. The Top 5 places are an open field for 12 drivers in the running with six races remaining.
