09 Sep 2016 — Luís Almeida won fourth place in the Le Mans ’79 GTP-C in Round 4 of the 1983 World Endurance Championship series.

Almeida ran the majority of eight laps total leading Jari Bruppacher after being engaged by him on the fifth lap. In the end Almeida settled into fourth the lap running to the finish.

Almeida remains in third in the standings, increasing the lead over rival Porfirio Dias Santos to seven points. Almeida has four starts and finished as high as fourth.

1983 World Endurance Championship series moves on to Round 5 in a week at Spa-Francorchamps ’88. The series has 13 drivers competing for points in the championship.

Matt Geddes leads the championship in a tight campaign over Phil Brown, separated by just a handful of grid positions. The title continues to be challenged by Luís Almeida, Porfirio Dias Santos, Bruno Chacon, Rafael Iwata, Ricardo Gomes, Mark Craggs, Harry-Lee Wills, Nuno Gaiteira, Jari Bruppacher, Jorge Herrera, and Fernando Silva as well. The Top 5 places are an open battleground for 13 drivers in the running with three races remaining.
