24 May 2016 — Antonio Tavares raced at the front of the field most of all drivers, leading 19 of 25 laps on a run to first place in the Goodwood TR250 in the opening round of the The Ferrari Testarossa Challenge series.
Tavares ran the majority of 20 laps total leading Porfirio Dias Santos after challenging and passing him on lap 7. Tavares cleared Dias Santos and into first place on lap 7, and controlled it the remaining 18 laps to the finish.
The Ferrari Testarossa Challenge series moves on to Round 2 in a week at Riverside – CanAm. The series has six drivers competing for points in the championship.
Jari Bruppacher won second place.
Porfirio Dias Santos led the pack for six laps in a run to fifth place.
Bruppacher ran all of 10 laps total pursuing Porfirio Dias Santos after catching him on lap 7, coming from as many as three positions back. Bruppacher launched a prolonged challenge at Dias Santos in the middle stages, staying within a sector behind him and gaining ground over an unbroken run of five laps. Bruppacher got around Dias Santos and into second place when Dias Santos retired on lap 20, and held it the final few laps to the finish.
Dias Santos spent the majority of 19 laps total pursuing Antonio Tavares after being engaged and passed by him on lap 7. In the end Dias Santos settled into second the 13 laps before retiring early due to engine trouble.
Luís Almeida took third place.
