21 Dec 2016 — Lazaros Filippakos passed through more than half the field from sixth on the starting grid to first place at the finish line in the Thruxton Sports 2000 in Round 3 of the Swift Sport S2000 Winter Series.
Filippakos ran nearly all of 30 laps total leading Alejo Perales after engaging and passing him on the fourth lap, coming from as many as four positions back. Filippakos got around Perales and into first place on lap 4, and kept it the remaining 26 laps to the conclusion.
Filippakos is seventh in the standings for the series. He has one start and led 27 of his 30 laps raced while taking the victory once.
Ken Jagger made a last-lap pass and flash across the finish line just 0.229 seconds ahead of Mark Carty to take second place.
Driving the Lola T598, Jagger drove all of 13 laps total pursuing Alejo Perales after catching him on the first lap. Jagger got around Perales and into second place when Perales retired on the final lap.
Jagger remains in the lead of the standings, increasing the lead over rival Ville Hartikainen to 18 points. Jagger has three starts and led 29 of his 87 laps while taking the win once.
Mark Carty took third place.
Carty drove nearly equal parts of 26 laps total leading Ken Jagger after being engaged by him on the fifth lap. Driving the Swift DB5, Carty fended off an extended attack by Jagger in the early stages, staying just a couple turns ahead of him over an unbroken run of 14 laps. In the end Carty lost the spot on lap 19 and settled into third the lap running to the checkered flag, missing Jagger ahead by just 0.229 seconds at the line.
Carty moves up to fourth in the standings, five points behind Alejo Perales. Carty has two starts and finished as high as third.
Swift Sport S2000 Winter Series moves on to its fourth and final round in a week at Hitchin – British F3. The series has 14 drivers competing for points in the championship.
Ken Jagger leads the championship. The title continues to be challenged by Ville Hartikainen and Alejo Perales. The Top 5 places are an open battleground for 13 drivers in the running with one race remaining.
Bruno Chacon captured fourth place.
Chacon mixed it up with Mark Carty in a lengthy and determined fight for third starting early on, running within a turn of each other over a range of 28 laps. Chacon ran the majority pursuing Carty after catching him on the first lap. Ultimately Chacon settled into fourth the lap running to the finish.
Chacon moves up to sixth in the standings, two points behind Matias Perales. Chacon has two starts and finished as high as fourth.
Alejo Perales led the pack for three laps in a run to sixth place.
