25 Jun 2016 — From the sixth spot on the starting grid, Lazaros Filippakos worked through the field of seven to claim first place at the finish in the MorganPark Circuit D MiniX in Round 5 of the Short Circuit MiniX series.
Filippakos drove the majority of 17 laps total leading Simon Swarbrick after challenging and passing him on lap 12, coming from as many as four positions back. Filippakos passed Swarbrick and into first place on lap 12, and defended it against pressure by Swarbrick the remaining 14 laps to the checkered flag.
Filippakos moves up to fourth in the standings, six points behind Colin Barker. Filippakos has three starts and led 40 of his 93 laps while taking the victory twice.
Short Circuit MiniX series moves on to Round 6 in two weeks at Vallelunga – Club. The series has 13 drivers competing for points in the championship.
Simon Swarbrick leads the championship in a tight campaign over Csaba Lakó, separated by just a handful of finishing positions. The title continues to be challenged by Colin Barker, Lazaros Filippakos, Joao Botelho De Sousa, Ashley Bevis, Lucas Stinziano, and Nikolaus Steven as well. The Top 5 places are an open field for 13 drivers in the running with three races remaining.
