23 Jun 2016 — Carlos Reina made a final pass on the last lap for a fifth-place finish in the Kyalami – GP Masters FBMW in Round 3 of the Winter Races series.
Reina swapped leads with Mark Carty in a relentless fight for sixth in the late stages, running within a car length of each other over a stretch of seven laps and changing positions two times. Reina spent the majority pursuing Carty after being caught and passed by him on lap 10. Driving the Formula BMW, Reina launched a prolonged challenge at Carty late in the action, staying within an apex behind him and gaining ground over a continuous run of five laps. Reina cleared Carty and into sixth place on his final lap.
Reina is 16th in the standings for the series. He has one start and finished as high as fifth.
Winter Races series moves on to Round 4 in a week at Barbagallo Wannero. The series has 32 drivers competing for points in the championship.
Mike Dos Santos leads the championship in a tight campaign over Nuno Miguel Abreu, separated by just a handful of grid positions. The Top 5 places are an open field for 32 drivers in the running with five races remaining.
