19 Apr 2016 — Mert Kayar held off Antonio Tavares at the finish line by the narrow margin of 0.028 seconds to take third place in the Hidden Valley ETCC03 in Round 2 of the ETCC series.
Rasa Djordjevic started on the pole and led every lap on the way to a commanding victory.
Kayar ran all of 10 laps total leading Antonio Tavares after being engaged by him on the first lap. Driving the Alfa ETCC, Kayar fended off an extended challenge by Tavares midway through, staying just a couple turns ahead of him over an unbroken run of eight laps. Kayar held third position every lap from the start to the checkered flag, holding off Tavares by the razor-thin margin at the line.
Kayar is seventh in the standings for the series. He has one start and finished as high as third.
Djordjevic spent all of 18 laps total leading Thomas Hinss after being engaged by him on the first lap. Djordjevic controlled the race lead every lap from start to win.
Djordjevic moves up to the lead of the standings, 10 points ahead of Alessio Lucchesi. Djordjevic has two starts and led 18 of his 35 laps while taking the victory once.
ETCC series moves on to Round 3 tomorrow at Laguna Seca – ALMS. The series has eight drivers competing for points in the championship.
