28 Oct 2016 — Joao Botelho De Sousa took 14th place in the Norisring ’08 DTM in Round 2 of the Deutsche Tourenwagen-Meisterschaft series.
Driving the Mercedes AMG, Botelho De Sousa swapped leads with Rafael Iwata in a lengthy and determined battle for 11th from the beginning, running within car lengths of each other over a span of 13 laps. Botelho De Sousa drove the majority pursuing Iwata after targeting him on the first lap. Ultimately Botelho De Sousa settled into 12th the 11 laps before retiring early due to suspension trouble.
Botelho De Sousa drops to ninth in the standings, now tied in points with 10th’s Octavio Correia following Correia’s sixth-place finish. Botelho De Sousa has two starts and finished as high as sixth.
Deutsche Tourenwagen-Meisterschaft series moves on to Round 3 in three weeks at a track to be announced. The series has 23 drivers competing for points in the championship.

The Top 5 places are an open field for 23 drivers in the running with three races remaining.
