16 Oct 2016 — Harris Muhammad won 10th place in the Koda Factory Portugal – GP GroupC in the opening round of the Group C Atlantic Motorsport series.
After starting sixth, Muhammad dropped to 14th in the beginning. Muhammad mixed it up with Edson Archela in a drawn-out battle for sixth from the beginning, wrangling over a stretch of 30 laps. Driving the Porsche 962C, Muhammad drove the majority pursuing Archela after being challenged and passed by him on the second lap. Muhammad launched an extended attack at Archela in the late stages, staying within a straightaway behind him and keeping pace over a continuous run of 15 laps. Muhammad got around Archela and into sixth place on lap 57, and kept it another couple laps toward the conclusion before retiring early due to fuel trouble.
Group C Atlantic Motorsport series moves on to Round 2 in two weeks at Sebring Int’l – 12 Hour. The series has 18 drivers competing for points in the championship.
Eduardo Beninca leads the championship in a tight campaign over Ricardo Demateo, separated by just a couple grid spots. The title continues to be challenged by Daniel Gomez, Darien Bailey, Damian Baldi, Edson Archela, Andy Bruno, Indra Feryanto, Ze Jesus, Harris Muhammad, Marcelo Aiello, Rob Milliken, Flavio Costa, Mario Rocha, Porfirio Dias Santos, Nick Phillips, Nando Ferreira, and Juan Puyo as well. The Top 5 places are an open field for 18 drivers in the running with four races remaining
