25 Aug 2016 — Harris Muhammad held the lead for nine laps in a run to first place in the Koda Factory Matsusaka West Clio in the opening round of the Atlantic Motorsport Clio Super Series.
Muhammad traded positions multiple rounds with Manuel Alves in a long and tense battle for the race lead starting early on, running within a scuff of each other over a range of 20 laps. Muhammad drove nearly equal parts leading Alves after catching and passing him on the third lap. Muhammad fended off a prolonged challenge by Alves early in the running, staying just an apex ahead of him over a continuous run of six laps. After losing the spot on lap 9, Muhammad cleared Alves for the second time and into first place on lap 18, and defended it against pressure by Alves the remaining three laps to the finish.
Atlantic Motorsport Clio Super Series moves on to Round 2 in two weeks at Mid Ohio – No Chicane. The series has 10 drivers competing for points in the championship.
Harris Muhammad leads the championship in a tight campaign over Manuel Alves, separated by just a couple grid spots. The title continues to be challenged by Fahn Thomas, Juan Puyo, Juan Aul, Ze Jesus, Tiago Santana, Bruno Gil, Rubens Filho, and Pablo Rangel as well. The Top 5 places are an open battleground for 10 drivers in the running with four races remaining.
