27 Aug 2016 — Daniel Gomez took second place in the Team Comet Interlagos Group C São Paulo GP GroupC in Round 2 of the Group C Challenge series.
Gomez drove all of 33 laps total leading Julian Campillo after being engaged by him on the first lap. Driving the Porsche 962C, Gomez fended off an extended challenge by Campillo in the beginning, staying just a car length ahead of him over a solid run of 33 laps. After starting third, Gomez took second position on the first lap and controlled it every lap to the checkered flag.
Gomez remains in the lead of the standings, increasing the lead over rival Joe Miller to 10 points. Gomez has two starts and led 30 of his 69 laps while taking the victory once.
Group C Challenge series moves on to Round 3 in a week at Brands Hatch GP. The series has 10 drivers competing for points in the championship.
Daniel Gomez leads the championship in a tight campaign over Joe Miller, separated by just a handful of grid positions. The title continues to be challenged by Nando Ferreira, Damian Baldi, Rich Minkler, Julian Campillo, Matt Geddes, Andy Bruno, Aaron Jackson, and Gilbert Eman as well. The Top 5 places are an open field for 10 drivers in the running with five races remaining.
