10 Oct 2016 — Csaba Lakó took seventh place in the Curitiba Formula 3 in the opening round of the JBRacing Formula 3 series.
Lakó took the fight back and forth with Rafael Iwata in a long and tense fight for fifth from the middle stages, running within a car length of each other over a range of 24 laps. Lakó ran nearly equal parts leading Iwata after being engaged by him on the fifth lap. Lakó fended off an extended challenge by Iwata early in the running, staying just car lengths ahead of him over a solid run of 12 laps. Ultimately Lakó lost the spot on lap 28 and settled into seventh the couple laps running to the finish.
JBRacing Formula 3 series moves on to Round 2 in a week at Laguna Seca. The series has 10 drivers competing for points in the championship.
Alan Rasman leads the championship in a tight campaign over Simon Swarbrick, separated by just a couple finishing positions. The title continues to be challenged by Alex Alvim, Jari Bruppacher, Rafael Iwata, Paul Anstey, Csaba Lakó, Bruno Chacon, Jason Whited, and Juan Aul as well. The Top 5 places are an open field for 10 drivers in the running with nine races remaining.
