21 Jul 2016 — Carlos Reina took fourth place in the Phillip Island FBMW in Round 7 of the Winter Races series.
Reina swapped leads multiple rounds with Mike Dos Santos in a lengthy and unrelenting battle for third from the middle stages, running within a car length of each other over a span of 15 laps. Driving the Formula BMW, Reina spent the majority pursuing Dos Santos after being engaged and passed by him on lap 6. Ultimately Reina settled into fourth the half-dozen laps running to the conclusion.
Reina is 13th in the standings for the series. He has two starts and finished as high as fourth.
Winter Races series moves on to its eighth and final round in a week at Nelson Ledges. The series has 50 drivers competing for points in the championship.
Andrea Giachè leads the championship in a tight campaign over Mike Dos Santos, separated by just a single grid spot. The title continues to be challenged by Mark Carty and Nuno Miguel Abreu as well. The Top 5 places are an open ring for 11 drivers in the running with one race remaining.
