13 Apr 2016 — Tony Carl Christensen led all drivers most for 12 of 14 laps on a run for first place in the Bahrain BMW E90 LIGA in Round 3 of the BMW E90 spring cup series.

Carl Christensen swapped leads with Mark Carty in a lengthy and determined battle for the race lead late in the action, running within car lengths of each other over a span of 12 laps. Carl Christensen spent the majority leading Carty after being caught by him on the first lap. Driving the BMW E90 LIGA ’08, Carl Christensen fended off an extended challenge by Carty in the beginning, staying just car lengths ahead of him over an unbroken run of nine laps. After losing the spot on lap 10, Carl Christensen passed Carty and into first place when Carty retired on lap 12, and controlled it the final couple laps to the conclusion.

Carl Christensen remains in the lead of the standings, increasing the lead over rival Carlos Pons to 18 points. Carl Christensen has three starts and led 35 of his 48 laps while taking the victory three times.

Carlos Pons made his 10th start in the BMW E90 LIGA ’08 and captured third place.

Pons spent all of 14 laps total pursuing Diogo Velosa after catching him on the first lap. Ultimately Pons settled into third the few laps running to the finish.

Pons remains in second in the standings, increasing the lead over rival Michael Finn to 11 points. Pons has three starts and finished as high as third.

In the 10 career runs taken by Pons in the BMW E90 LIGA ’08, he has led 26 laps in all and taken the victory once.

Michael Finn made his 20th start in the BMW E90 LIGA ’08 and captured eighth place.

BMW E90 spring cup series moves on to Round 4 in two weeks at Shanghai GP. The series has 13 drivers competing for points in the championship.

Finn spent the majority of 13 laps total pursuing Fernando Silva after being caught and passed by him on the fifth lap. Driving the BMW E90 LIGA ’08, Finn launched an extended attack at Silva midway through, staying within a turn behind him and keeping pace over a continuous run of 10 laps. In the end Finn settled into eighth the few laps running to the finish.

Finn remains in third in the standings, 11 points behind Carlos Pons. Finn has three starts and finished as high as fourth.

In the 20 career runs taken by Finn in the BMW E90 LIGA ’08, he has finished as high as second twice.

Fernando Silva made his 20th start in the BMW E90 LIGA ’08 and captured seventh place.

Silva spent the majority of 14 laps total pursuing Porfirio Dias Santos after being engaged and passed by him on the second lap. In the end Silva settled into seventh the few laps running to the conclusion.

Silva moves up to fifth in the standings, nine points behind Alaoui Nassim. Silva has two starts and finished as high as fifth.

In the 20 career runs taken by Silva in the BMW E90 LIGA ’08, he has finished as high as third once.

Diogo Velosa won second place.

Alaoui Nassim took fifth place.

Velosa ran all of six laps total pursuing Tony Carl Christensen after targeting him on the first lap. Ultimately Velosa settled into second the few laps running to the conclusion.

Velosa is seventh in the standings for the series. He has one start and finished as high as second.

Nassim traded positions multiple rounds with Antonio Tavares in a lengthy and unrelenting fight for fifth from the middle stages, running within a scuff of each other over a stretch of 14 laps. Nassim ran equal parts leading Tavares after being caught by him on the first lap. Ultimately Nassim lost the spot on lap 9 and settled into fifth through attrition the few laps running to the checkered flag.

Nassim remains in fourth in the standings, cutting the gap to third’s Michael Finn to one point. Nassim has two starts and finished as high as second.
