15 May 2016 — Rich Baker led all drivers most for 76 of 150 laps on a run for first place in the Northside International HDISS in the opening round of the ARAIG 1974 Winston Cup Stock Car series.

Baker spent the majority of 39 laps total pursuing Joe Miller after catching him on lap 37, coming from as many as four spots back. Baker got around Miller and into first place on lap 75, and controlled it the remaining 75 laps to the finish.

Charles Civitarese captured second place.

ARAIG 1974 Winston Cup Stock Car series moves on to Round 2 in two weeks at Mountain Peak Speedway. The series has eight drivers competing for points in the championship.

Civitarese swapped leads multiple rounds with Angelo Dos Santos in a long and tense battle for third starting midway through, running within an apex of each other over a stretch of 31 laps. Civitarese drove the majority leading Dos Santos after catching and passing him on lap 62. After losing the spot on lap 75, Civitarese passed Dos Santos for the third time and into second place on lap 77, and defended it against pressure by Dos Santos another 13 laps toward the checkered flag.

Aaron Jackson captured third place.

Jackson traded positions back and forth with Angelo Dos Santos in a long and tense fight for fourth starting midway through, running within a car length of each other over a range of 35 laps. Jackson drove nearly equal parts leading Dos Santos after challenging and passing him on lap 69, coming from as many as five spots back. After losing the spot on lap 73, Jackson cleared Dos Santos for the second time and into third place on lap 90, and defended it against pressure by Dos Santos another 15 laps toward the finish.

Jim Barisoff took fourth place.

Joe Miller led the pack for 74 laps in a run to fifth place.

Barisoff traded positions back and forth with Angelo Dos Santos in a long and tense fight for fourth in the late stages, running within a bumper of each other over a span of 61 laps. Barisoff spent nearly equal parts leading Dos Santos after challenging and passing him on lap 103, coming from as many as six positions back. After losing the spot on lap 112, Barisoff cleared Dos Santos for the third time and into fourth place on lap 113, and kept it the remaining 36 laps to the conclusion.

Miller traded positions with Angelo Dos Santos in a drawn-out fight for fifth starting midway through, battling over a range of 62 laps. Miller spent the majority leading Dos Santos after being caught by him on the first lap. After losing the spot on lap 76, Miller cleared Dos Santos and into fifth place on lap 141, and defended it against pressure by Dos Santos the remaining eight laps to the checkered flag.
